I'm sitting here looking out over a sunny Monday afternoon, thinking what a great weekend this past one turned out to be.  We'll be posting a fuller story about OutSport Toronto at Pride this year, but I have to say how personally delighted I am at our first year at Pride.

Attention... Attention....

Pride is almost upon us.  What are you doing to promote yourselves and attract new members?

OutSport Toronto is promoting you by extending relationships to the LGBT media (Xtra and FAB use our calendar to populate their publications), through twitter, through facebook, by communicating to different levels of government about LGBT sport in the GTA.... and by facilitating Toronto Pride's FIRST EVER SportZone!

My favourite day of the 2010 Summer last year was without a doubt Sunday, July 4th - the day of the Pride Parade.

I had been to a couple of parades as a spectator, and always had a good time, but it was just one of several fun things to do in the city during the summer.  This year was different.  As apart of the newly formed Toronto Gay Football League, we pulled together a small group of people to march in the parade and bring awareness to the league.

Can you host?  The Federation of Gay Games (FGG) will be holding its 2011 Annual General Assembly in Toronto from October 21 to October 27. I'd delighted to welcome Pink Turf Soccer League and the Toronto Gay Hockey Association as our latest new members to OutSport Toronto.  We had no trouble voting unanimously to accept both applications at our directors meeting on the 17th.

The strength of any organization is found in the commitment of its members to the organization’s vision and mission.  OutSport Toronto’s vision is to be the respected voice of LGBT sport.  We all know that respect has to be earned, and the Board of Directors of OutSport is working hard in an effort to achieve that respect by focusing on its mission to serve and support LGBT amateur sport organizations in the Greater Toronto Area.
